Paul Andrew

digital photography course tutor

A trained graphic and photographic designer, Paul has worked mainly in a freelance capacity since 1975. During this time he has held a partnership with two photographic studios, and has produced work for Action Publishing Ltd, Dover Harbour Board, British Coal, Kent County Council, Alfa Romeo, Sericol, Camelot, and has been involved with the armed forces.

Currently a lecturer in photography and multimedia at the Ashford School of Art & Design, Paul still undertakes commissioned work. He has exhibited extensively throughout the UK and on the Continent.

Paul's other passion is astronomy and astrophotography, and has worked with Sir Patrick Moore, helping to write a book on observatory design. His photograph of the Aurora on 29th Oct 2003 (refer to his gallery below) was widely published in the national press, astronomy magazines, and on the Internet.

Brian Beecroft

photography course tutor

Brian holds a Degree in Visual Design and Advertising, as well as a HND in Multimedia Design. He has taught NVQs and Modern Apprenticeships within the work place and has taught at the Ashford School of Art and Design and South Kent College. He now delivers courses for West Kent College and Learn Direct. Brian holds his D32 and D33 assessors qualifications as well as his Advanced Certificate in Education from Canterbury Christ Church University College. Brian has also worked as a freelance graphic and web designer utopiaconcepts.co.uk. working within the corporate and media sectors. He also has a partnership in a wedding photography company Kent Wedding Photographers

His main interests are visual language, semiotics and semantics. As well as being interested in advertising and the psychology involved in advertising. Brian is also interested in social psychology and body language.

He firmly believes that all images have a narrative just waiting to be told, and that the photographer is no more that a story teller. The better the skill of the photographer the better the story the image will tell.
